DANIEL PALILLO SS2012

Daniel Palillo’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection called Never Mind. The whole line is wonderfully creepy, inspired by Palillo's time spent in America. The entire collection raws from the anarchy of the designer’s teenage music heroes, while painting a portrait of his everyday lived experiences: Saturday evening soccer matches, Sunday morning cartoons, etc. I'm in love with his quirky whimsical aesthetic, where enormous proportions meet three-dimensional structures and morbid graphics. Totally cartoon chic. I also like the fresh look to of the collection — with over-sized cuts, irreverent prints, and streetwear aesthetic. HAUNTED AIR BY OSSAIN BROWN

Ossian Brown was a member of the dark, magical electronic music group Coil and is currently in Clyclobe, a duo with his partner Stephen Thrower. Ossian is a strange attractor. Weird things find him. Like his exquisite collection of antique vernacular photographs of Halloweens past. Brown compiled his favorites of the freaky found photos, all dating between 1875 and 1955, into a lovely new book titled Haunted air. David Lynch wrote the introduction and Geoff Cox the afterword. Here is a glimpse of how the old, weird America celebrated All-Hallows Eve.

THE BEAUTY OF AN UGLY ADDICITION BY FRIEKKE JANSSENS

There is definitely a bit of sense of humor in the Smoking Kids series of photographs by Friekke Janssens. With the tobacco industry's push toward attracting children to consume their products, Janssens has theatrically staged and costumed his kids to act the part of "sophisticated" adults enjoying a good smoke.
